Welcome to the Fundraiser Page for Judy's Handmade Far North Soaps!

The long-awaited, much anticipated Fundraiser page for Judy Ehrlich and her wonderful handmade soaps is finally here!
Why a Fundraiser?
Judy owns a small farm in rural Alaska, where she lives with her son, a small herd of dairy goats and a small flock of chickens. After 40 years in law enforcement, Judy was enjoying her retirement, working with her livestock and gardens, making custom soaps and beadwork. That lifetime of effort allowed her to pay off her property. But like many in recent years, the economic downturn has taken its toll. Her part-time work, combined with her Social Security payments, still were not enough to pay her farm's property taxes.
Judy needs to raise approximately $2200 by August 31st.
This fundraiser is to help her raise the rest of the amount needed to pay her taxes, so that she is not evicted from her property.
About the Soaps
The soaps available on this page are handmade soaps using high quality ingredients along with the wholesome raw milk from Judy's own goat herd. Each bar is approximately 3.5oz, and provides a good durable lather. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Alaska Wild Rose
The Alaskan rose is renowned not only for its beauty, but also for its hardiness and its live-saving qualities. But you can enjoy Alaskan Rose without even putting on your hiking boots.

Bay Rum
Oh, my, is there anything that brings up thoughts of tropical islands like bay rum? An entire fleet of, ahem, "enterprising individuals" used to make the hazardous run between the islands of the Caribbean and the mainland's busy commercial ports, with their cargo holds laden with profitable but heavily taxed or flat out illegal rum. Those ships came to be known as "rum-runners", and many a tall tale arose from those years of high-seas operations. While this soap is definitely of less interest to the ATF than, say, a cargo hold full of illicit rum, it smells just about as good! If you're looking for a dose of tropical piracy in the safety of your own home, try the Bay Rum. Smells great, less jail time.
Cotton Candy
Oh, to be young again! How many of us remember going to the circus or fairgrounds, and begging Mom and Dad for the nickels, dimes and quarters we'd need for one of those towering columns of sugary, colorful cotton candy? Of course we knew it wasn't nutritious. That's what was so fun about it! The colors and flavors were their own reward. Today you can enjoy that all over again, without begging Mom and Dad for their loose change. And without worrying about getting a sour tummy! Lather up with cotton candy soap and you'll be magically transported back to summers long ago when your biggest concern was having as much fun as possible before bedtime.
Country Kitchen
If the kitchen is the heart of the home, country kitchens are a positive beehive of activity - fresh produce from the garden ready for drying, canning, or blanching, eggs to wash, meats to salt and freeze, candles to pour, baking to do, honeycomb to spin, seedlings sprouted in cups on the windowsill, and often a myriad of little hands eager to help. The King or Queen of the kitchen can't spend time thinking about whether the handsoap on the counter will be up to the task of keeping all those hands clean. Like everything else on the farm, that soap needs to do its work efficiently, thoroughly and comfortably. Which is exactly what this soap does. No muss, no fuss, just a good hard working bar of clean. Get some high quality help in your own hard-working kitchen - this little helper will always be ready for work.
Dragon's Blood
Have you ever had one of those days when you knew you needed to take the bull by the horns? Divide and conquer? Draw your sword and ride into battle? What better preparation than to annoint yourself with that most fiery of beasts, the essence of the dragon. While this soap won't magically give you a brand new coat of armor, its bold scent and color will make you feel like you can go out bravely into the world and conquer whatever is on your list for the day. Fangs not included.
Exotic Emu
After you've conquered your empires (see Dragon's Blood above), you'll probably want to celebrate. And there's no better way to feel like royalty than with this most exotic of soaps. Opulent texture, silky finish, with a rich but subtle scent. You'll feel like a million dollars when you step out of the bath or shower after using this soap. And even if you haven't conquered any empires lately, it is still a great way to make yourself feel darned spiffy.
Farmers Pine Tar
TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK; CHECK BACK SOON!
Some of us don't need to conquer whole empires. We'd be happy to get the Back 40 fenced, or to get that herd vetted, or get those last planting beds weeded. Let's face it, farming is dirty work. But at the end of the day, you want to fall into bed clean, not still covered with dust and grit. Farmers Pine Tar will cut through the worst of whatever you might bring into the house (and we all know you're going to track it into the house), without taking your skin off in the process. You work hard, you deserve to be clean and comfortable as a result. Try Farmers Pine Tar after those long hard days. It'll be the cleanest you've felt all day.
Fireweed
TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK; CHECK BACK SOON!
Weeds get such a bad rap in our prepackaged, antiseptic, assigned parking world. But here's a cheer for plants that will not be subdued, and which give us pleasant scents, tastes and textures in spite of our very best efforts to get rid of them. Fireweed soap is mild and pleasant, easy on the eye, in the nose and on the skin. If your day needs a dose of Ma Nature's less civilized side, try some Fireweed soap. Bring a piece of a wild meadow into your world, wherever that may be.
Fresh and Clean
Some days, you don't want perfume. You don't want woodsy. And you really don't want floral. You just want to be fresh and clean. On those days, this soap is for you. Anytime you just want to wash the world away, give this soap a try.
Gentlemen's Choice
TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK; CHECK BACK SOON!
Men don't want to smell like roses. Or gardenias, or puff pastries, or daffodils. And sometimes men don't want to smell like diesel, wildlife or lumber either. Some days, men just want to smell manly, but cultured. And this soap not only knows that, but celebrates that. If you're looking for something that brings to mind words like "dashing", "polished", "handsome" and "refined", this soap is just what you're looking for. When you need to put a touch of class in your day, whether for the office, a special event, or "just because", Gentlemen's Choice will be the perfect touch.

Green Clover and Aloe Vera
The only bummer part of being out in the nice hot weather is how sticky and sweaty and, well, HOT we are when we come back inside! Let alone the all-too-common bit of ultraviolet roasting we still let ourselves get even though we really truly know better. Well, this soap is for all those who either need to cool off, de-stick or possibly wash newly burned skin. Green clover with aloe vera is cool, moisturizing, and soothing to skin that really wished we would have stayed inside. So, do your playing outside if you really need to, but if you forget the sunscreen, reach for this soap when you're done playing. Your skin may not totally forgive you, but it won't be quite so irritable the next day.
Hawaiian Dreams
TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK; CHECK BACK SOON!
Everyone occassionally fantasizes about Getting Away From It All. But so often, there's no way we can possibly avoid our daily obligations. If your fantasy about getting away involves a tropical beach, why not give yourself a mini-vacation, without leaving home? Hawaiian Dreams soap will almost magically transport you to the Aloha state, with its warm breezes and tropical flowers. And you don't even need to spend 5 hours on a plane getting there. The next time you need a dose of the tropics, try this soap. And prepare for a very pleasant trip in the mental simulator, as often as you need it.
Kelp
Some folks crave the tropics, but others crave the scent of a wild coastline. Rocky outcroppings, stormy horizons and the crashing of waves fill the five senses, where the dark rich waters feed all manner of life. That mineral richness is as close as your sink or shower when this soap is in the dish. Kelp soap will not only bring to mind the rugged coasts, your skin will appreciate the nicely balanced mineral components. The grainy texture will also help exfoliate and invigorate your skin. If you need a wild coastline in your day, try this soap.
Lavender
Lavender is an ancient herb, with a long history of calming, restful, restorative powers. If your day has already been three days long, and you've logged too many miles, too many meetings, too much bad news and too many headaches, take a load off with this heavenly scent. It might not make the paperwork any easier, but it will help you get through all those obstacles without quite so much mental wear and tear.
Lilac
TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK; CHECK BACK SOON!
Nothing triggers long-lost memories like scent, and lilacs bring back amazing memories for many of us. Sometimes lilac was growing around the front porch of the house where we grew up, or in the churchyard where we received First Communion, or even outside of that neat old general store where the clerk would give us three pieces of penny candy for only two cents. Even if you don't remember now, the scent of lilac will probably trigger some old, hopefully very pleasant memories for you too. What better time machine, than a scent that can carry us back to those childhood places.
Raspberry Cream
It's true that a soap doesn't need to be pleasant to be practical, but isn't it nice when it's both? Raspberry cream will give you a nice clean feeling, with a subtle fruity scent and a luscious texture. Why be merely practical, when you can also enjoy the experience?
Real Leather
There are few things that say "hard work" quite like the smell of wet leather. If you've ever worked long hours in the saddle or held the lines for a team of horses all day, you'll know that smell and you'll know how good it feels to clean up afterwards. Even if you've never personally ridden herd on 10,000 longhorns, this soap will bring to mind all those who have.
Sandalwood
Many soaps are so heavily scented with flowery perfumes that our senses are almost knocked over backwards. We want to be clean, we want to smell good, but geez we don't want to smell like a walking bouquet. What's a well-washed body to do? Thankfully, Mother Nature gave us a variety of scents that are pleasant, undertoned, and neutral. Sandalwood is one such scent. If you're looking for a pleasant soap that will leave you nice and clean, without smelling like a florist's shop, try this one. You'll be glad you did.
Spiced Plum
Spiced plum has to be one of those scents that brings to mind all sorts of holiday memories - tables laden with food, frosty nights and warm drinks, music and comraderie and joyful giving. While we can't have the holidays all year round, we can certainly enjoy some reminders of them. Spiced plum soap is rich, warm, enviting, and reminiscent of holiday gatherings, whether past, present or future.
Unscented
While all the other soaps on this page have wonderful scents, reminiscent of all manner of fantastic scenes and places, sometimes you just want a bar of soap. No special scent, no special colors, just something to clean you up and send you on your way. Or perhaps you have allergies and cannot tolerate all those dyes and perfumes. In either case, this soap is for you. Nothing in the bar but gentle cleaning power.
Vanilla
What was once an exotic spice from far-away lands, has now become a familiar taste and scent in a variety of products. And no wonder - it's a positively marvelous scent. While a variety of soaps offer vanilla scents, few offer such a wholesome version of it. Nothing in this soap but natural plant oils and pure, genuine vanilla. If you want your favorite aroma without any additional fillers, this soap is for you.
Vanilla Musk
We talked above about pure, natural vanilla, and for many people that is enough. But perhaps you want something just a little different - a vanilla scent, but with a touch of manly nature. The sweet combined with the strong. This soap is a marvelous combination of those two opposites, in one handsome, yet pleasant combination.
Wild Dogwood
Some perfumes come from obvious sources - the rose, the gardenia, the honeysuckle. But other perfumes are familiar, yet we can't quite nail down where we last detected them. Dogwood is one such scent. Flowering dogwood trees are scattered across a wide swath of North America, and the blooms are a springtime favorite. But that soft, pleasant scent in springtime can reside right next to your sink. Bring a little touch of spring into your home, anytime.
Wild Herbal
So many of our favorite cooking herbs - rosemary, oregano, thyme, sage, mint - have powerful smells by themselves, but blend surprisingly well when combined. This soap combines a variety of herbal scents into one robust, but balanced bar.
